Louis is an adorable 5-year-old boy who suffered severe brain injuries at birth. He had a large brain bleed in utero that left him with Periventricular Leukomalacia (PVL) and Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE). He has Cerebral Palsy (CP), visual impairment and epilepsy. He requires 24-hour specialized care and therapies.
Louis' parents, Mellory and Dave, named him Louis because it means "Renowned Warrior." They firmly believe his amazing healing journey is because of God and prayer.
The 4:12 Foundation provided a financial grant for Louis (in combination with other donations his family has raised and received) for a home Trexo Robotic Gait System. The Trexo system facilitates gait training and movement that he is unable to do on his own. It assists with weight bearing, functional stretching, strength training, core strengthening and most importantly, building his independence and confidence.
As of early summer 2024, Louis has his Trexo system, and he has been able to hit 20,000 steps officially on 11/13/2024! Watch the heartwarming video below to see Louis walk. We are so honored and blessed to be a part of Louis’ journey and story of strength.
To help Louis be upright and "walk," the 4:12 Foundation and other donors contributed to a Trexo Robotic Gait System, which facilitates gait training and movement that he is unable to do on his own. Watch the joy on Louis' face as he uses his Trexo system to walk 55 steps per minute!
